Unlocking Processing Potential

The Problem
Conventional processing strategies are under increasing pressure from tighter operating margins and the need to maximise resource efficiency. Many operations still rely on flowsheets designed for the “average” ore and fixed operating parameters, even though energy intensity, reagent use, recovery and product quality are strongly influenced by mineralogy and other properties of the ore. When ore body characteristics are either not well defined or are disconnected from plant design and operation, value can be destroyed by inefficient separation and avoidable recovery losses.
The Opportunity
The opportunity is to move from a flowsheet designed and operated around average ore assumptions to a circuit where upstream processes (comminution, classification) are deliberately configured to create the feed that will maximise economic separation efficiency for an ore body. The integration of quantitative mineralogy with comminution and separation process modelling and simulation enables Mining3 to identify the parameters that impact performance and to define the maximum separation possible only limited by the ore texture and not by the process itself.
The Benefits
Unlocks value by aligning feed design with ore characteristics.
Improves recovery by targeting the liberation and separation conditions best suited to each ore type.
Reduces energy and reagent intensity by avoiding unnecessary over-grinding and poorly matched processing conditions.
Improves plant stability by reducing feed variability and creating more predictable processing performance.
Supports more confident forecasting, blending and production planning.
Benchmarks actual plant performance against the ore’s theoretical limits, helping identify where value is lost and where improvement effort should be focused.
Provides mining companies with a practical pathway to lift productivity and resource efficiency without necessarily requiring major capital-intensive plant replacement.
Gives developers and project teams a stronger basis for flowsheet selection, ramp-up planning and value assessment.
Creates opportunities for technology providers to test and position sensing, sorting, modelling, comminution and separation technologies within a clearly defined value case.
How Mining3 Can Help
Mining3 brings together expertise in ore body characterisation, mineral processing, comminution, modelling, simulation and techno-economic evaluation to translate ore body knowledge into practical processing decisions. We can help partners define the value opportunity, assess ore variability and processing response, benchmark current performance against theoretical limits, test alternative feed design and circuit configuration scenarios, and build an evidence-based roadmap for implementation.
Talk to Mining3 about your designer feed and ore body knowledge challenges. We are looking for partners with complex ore bodies, variable plant performance, challenging recovery targets, emerging sensing or processing technologies, or sites where designer feed concepts can be evaluated and demonstrated. We can help frame the opportunity, quantify the value case, identify the right technical pathway and bring together the partners needed to test, trial and scale practical solutions that unlock more value from every tonne mined.
